They decide to go to the city and act as aunts that take children places that the parents are too busy to take the children to (like the zoo or the grandparents’ house or something like that). ![]() Besides, they have to keep the island a secret, so they figure out that the only way to do this is to kidnap some children. They resolve that the only way they can do this is to kidnap some children, as they can’t go up to the parents and say, ‘We’d like to take your children where all they do is work,’ which is basically what they do all the time. They know they are getting old, and they must get some children who are strong, small and healthy and who can take care of the island with them. ![]() ![]() The aunts there (Coral, Mertle, and Etta) are three women who take care of the island. Island Of The Aunts, by Eva Ibbotson, is an amazing story about a magical island with selkies, mermaids, a stoorworm, a boobrie and lots of other magical creatures (I can’t list them all). ![]()
